I really dig the percussion but i am not fond about the guitar lead, at first hear i thought it was a badly equalized Saxophone, i really like the vibe of the rest of the track, but that guitar lead part killed it for me. Good job either way!!

I can't say i am fond about the kick (too dry for my taste), but i really like everything else, especially the lead synth, it really makes this this unique, it reminds me of some brony musicians i used to listen to. The production is really cool too!! Aside from the kick (That bothered me a lot :c), really good job!!

Your face is too dry for my taste

Fantastic, i wonder who was the asshole/s who 0 bombed this, i really love it. As a recommendation, you should try to denoise this entirely, there a few parts with a heavy white noise in the background, also,,you should boost the higher frequencies of the piano to make it brighter. A bit more of reeverb would help a lot too, nice work!!!

(PD: If you want a super chill effect, send the piano channel to 2 extra auxiliar channels, pan them 80% left and right, add a wet reeverb and chorus and delay and you will get something like this: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/93823550/Newgrounds.mp3

Hello, Thanks a lot for the review! This means a lot for me!

Yes, about the effects, It has changed, I've handled everything to have a better sound, check Un Lion D'Andalou to hear the different imrpovisations.

Thanks a lot for that chill effect! It's awesome and I love it, thanks for the tips also.

That background pad is a reverse cymbal right hahaha?? I tried to do something similar, pretty cool job!! I would have added a bit more of impact in the drum hits, aside from that, ths is really cool!

Daru925 responds:

Thank you and sry for the lack of polish, im in a hurry ahah!
i might do a better version after the contest^^
The pad is the sample Gong 2 and a lot of processing :D

I ll listen to all entries tonight, my ears will probably be blown... in a pleasant way 'D

I really enjoyed this!! I am not a fan of the brass at the beginning, it sounds really weird alone and feels cheesy, but when the rest begins to appears, it really blends well. The Xilophone could get some extra work, it doesn't feels reals (All the ntoes hit with the same velocity and strenght). Aside from that, really good!

Azhthar responds:

Hey! Thanks for the feedback here. I think I feel what you mean with the brass at the beginning. When it starts more quite it somehow misses a reverb tail which sounds quite weird on headphones. I didn´t realize that and it´s probably that the threshhold for compression on the reverb was to high... But maybe you also mean it sounds cheesy in general ;) The Xylophone is actually a Celesta mixed with some bells. It´s weird that you say this because I did a lot of stuff with the velocity here and afterwards I even randomized it a bit. Maybe it´s because the bells are not really very responsive to velocity changes and that covers the variation of the Celesta? I´ll have a look for that. Again: Thanks for the input!

I really like the intro and the synth choice!!! Pretty good job, my only problem with this is the strings, they sound too cheeeaaaaaap, i think this would sound a lot better with something better. Mixing is good too. I can't comment further because is a demo, but sounds good so far.

Dj-Gonzo responds:

Thanks for your review! I will work on these strings to impress you when I finish the song :)

Chiptune!!! This is my cup of tea. I liked how retro and "real" it feels. Great use of the noise as drums, i tink that over everything makes it sound "real" rather than a modern tracked tune.

I liked the synth choices of this, but i am not too fond of the percussion, it stands out just way too much over the melody and synths, you should tone them down (Specialy that rattle thingy, i don't know what exactly is), i also think the snare is way too annoying in comparison of the rest. I liked the arppegiated C-64 like synth too, pretty nice touch. Overall, good work, it has a distinct retro style, i would work on the percussion only :)

midimachine responds:

it's a hi-hat haha

i like the pitch of the snare rolls, maybe ramping out the transients would make it less grating?

Hey this is pretty cool!!!, it reminds me to the Yugioh Forbidden Memories OST. The mixing is on spot, and i love the synth choices. And i can't even complain about lack of variation, not because it is a loop, but because it is pretty catchy (In fact is still running in the background as i type this hahaha). Really good job :)

JandreParis responds:

Thanks man! Wow, I remember Forbidden Memories. That just took me back (And reminded me how old I am lol) First time really delving into Techno/Dance/House stuff. I've messed 'round before but this is substantially better than my other ones.

This also doubled as an etude for synthesis. First time working with Harmless so everything revolves around those chordal patterns. It was fun!

Hey! This is pretty nice, it reminds me to Hotline Miami, especially that octavated pluck synth, really nice, i like the overall atmosphere. I have some grips regarding some of the sound choices (The Dry Snare doesn't fit well), but aside from that, this is good : 3
